Simone Alberghini

Bass-baritone Simone Alberghini returns to LA Opera as Selim in Il Turco in Italia (2011) after previous appearances with the Company as Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (2003) and as Capulet in Roméo et Juliette (2005). Born in Bologna, he made his debut at the Teatro Regio Turin and won the Operalia Competition in 1994. He has gone on to appear at major European and American Opera Houses under conductors including Riccardo Chailly, Marek Jurowski, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa and Michael Tilson Thomas. His repertory includes Count and Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, Dandini in La Cenerentola, Giorgio in I Puritani, Henry VIII in Anna Bolena, Lord Sydney in Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims, Douglas in Rossini's La Donna del lago and Assur in Semiramide, Athanael in Thais, Lindorf, Coppelius, Miracle, Dapertutto in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Escamillo in Carmen, Potestà in La Gazza Ladra and Talbot in Maria Stuarda. Mr. Alberghini's orchestral appearances have included performances of the Verdi Requiem with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Giuseppe Sinopoli and with the Orchestra Sinfonica of Milan under Riccardo Chailly, and Schubert's Mass No. 6 with Orchestra della Toscana.
