Herbert Murauer

Herbert Murauer, who makes his LA Opera debut with Il Turco in Italia, studied stage design at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Salzburg. Subsequently, he was engaged at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, where he designed scenery for numerous theater and opera productions. Since then he has worked freelance and he has designed frequently for director Christof Loy. Their collaborations have included La Gioconda in Bremen, Manon, Lucia di Lammermoor and Don Carlo at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Der Rosenkavalier at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and Ariadne auf Naxos at Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He has also designed for Nuremberg's Pocket Opera, the Munich Games, and the Chamber Opera of Graz and Rouen. At the Bavarian State Opera, he designed productions of Saul and Roberto Devereux. |
